Dr Anna Summers

Osteopath

Dr Anna Summers began her life in Broken Head NSW and later moved to Wyrallah NSW. Growing up in in a small rural village 45 minutes from the coastline is where Anna developed her love for the land and Osteopathy. As a child Anna spent a great deal of her time at her family property, where her love for horses flourished. From a young age, Anna developed a great passion for Campdrafting and later in life enjoyed transitioning into Cutting. It is through Anna’s involvement in sport that she developed her love for Osteopathy. Anna’s experiences of Osteopathy and musculoskeletal therapy established her belief in its potential to enhance both psychological and physical wellness.

Anna holds a Master’s in Osteopathic Medicine and a Bachelor of Clinical Sciences Osteopathic Studies from Southern Cross University. She had 5 years’ experience working in a busy clinic in Ballina NSW prior to her move to Tamworth NSW. Anna is extremely passionate about Osteopathy and the continual learning that the profession provides. Anna believes continual learning enhances her well-rounded approach to treatment and patient care.

Anna is very dedicated to providing a warm and supportive professional environment for her patients. Anna enjoys treating people of all ages and tailors her treatment style to each individual’s treatment preference and presenting complaint. She utilises a broad range of osteopathic techniques including soft tissue massage, myofascial release, spinal manipulation, visceral osteopathy, dry needling, myofascial cupping, balanced ligamentous techniques, functional techniques and osteopathy in the cranial field.

Anna is available Monday to Friday and looks forward to providing osteopathic care to Tamworth and the greater surrounding rural communities of the New England and Greater West NSW Region.

Osteopathy focuses on the whole body to promote healing, improve the body’s mobility, circulation and well being.

Osteopaths believe that the body has the ability to recover when it’s in the right balance and position. Using a combination of traditional and modern healthcare philosophies, Osteopaths generally use non-invasive forms of therapy combined with education and advice to support the body’s natural healing processes. A whole-body philosophy means Osteopaths find the root cause of your pain and discomfort, educate you on your diagnosis and work on finding a solution that works for you.

In Australia Osteopaths are university-qualified allied health professionals who take the time to listen and treat patients as a whole, not just focusing on one pain point;

  • Osteopaths are trained in anatomy, physiology, pathology, general healthcare diagnosis and osteopathic techniques.

  • Osteopaths are government-registered allied health practitioners;

  • Osteopaths provide ongoing support and educational advice about lifestyle, stress management, diet or other factors that may influence a person’s pain, injury, or movement.
